STEM Family Night
On Wednesday November 13th, Blossburg Elementary School held its 4th annual Family STEM Night from 5 to 7:30. Students and teachers came together to create various experiments that families participated in.
“One of our biggest goals is to get the families to come out,” said library media specialist Sarah Murray. Commenting on the students and their participation in STEM night, “they’re the facilitators so they do everything from coming up with ideas to gathering materials, making the posters, coming up with the theme and then they are the ones that actually get to facilitate and work with the younger students and their parents at the stations and do all the hands-on activities.”
Many of the student facilitators would go on to say that their favorite part of STEM night is helping others. “We enjoy helping the kids make the catapults and seeing their reactions when they get a lot of points,” said Thomas Kinder in regard to the station he and his fellow students created.
Special thanks to the families, students, teachers, and anyone else who help to make Family STEM Nights a continued success.
