Spirit of Women – Be Heart Smart!

by Chloe Quimby - May 21, 2015

What is the undisputed, number one killer of American women? According to the American Heart Association, the answer is heart disease. Other statistics reveal heart disease to be more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. Most sobering of all, each day in the US, one woman dies from cardiovascular disease in some form.

Thankfully, Susquehanna Health understands the importance of discussing the best ways to maintain a robust, fully-functioning heart. They are inviting all women (ages 18+) to boost their “heart smarts” during their Be Heart Smart function this June. Event speakers are interventional cardiologist, Dr. Leslie Webb, and cardiologist Dr. Joseph Bering, who will be sharing the top ten things you can do to have a strong and healthy heart. Additionally, the time will include a FAQ session so attendees can get answers about their own heart concerns.

This free event will be held at the Deane Center here in Wellsboro on June 3rd, from 5:00-7:00pm. The evening will consist of registration, hors d’oeuvres, shopping, health screenings, and an opportunity to register for door prizes. These screenings are blood pressure, EKG, and body composition analysis (looking at percentage of body fat and lean muscle mass). Afterward, participants will be treated to the experts’ presentations, as well as a delicious, heart-healthy dinner.

* You must be a Spirit of Women member to attend. Please register by May 27 (seating is limited!) You can do so by calling: 1-888-720-8461.
