Small Town Business in Blossburg

by Jill Nickerson - November 30, 2018

In honor of Small Business Saturday on November 26th, Blossburg VIBE hosted Shop Smalltown to focus on shopping local in Blossburg for Christmas. Shoppers enjoyed events and sales as they filled their free Shop Small Reusable Tote Bags during the event.

Each business and vendor participated in a receipt raffle. Customer receipts were collected all day for a chance to win a basket filled with items and gift cards from Blossburg are businesses.
Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped by to take pictures and hand out gifts sponsored by the Jones Foundation and children were able to drop off their letters to Santa. Each child will receive a letter back from Mr. Claus himself before Christmas.

The movie, “Arthur Christmas” played at the Victoria Theatre for free throughout the day sponsored by First Citizens Community Bank. Blossburg Memorial Library shared free cookies, hot chocolate and gave out books during the event while Librarian Lis gave a book reading of “The Polar Express”. Shoppers were able to warm up by the fire and roast a marshmallow or join in on a snowball fight.

A special thanks to all the local businesses, vendors and community organizations. Shopping local not only supports our local economies, but also promotes thriving communities. During the holiday season and all throughout the year remember to spend local, eat local and enjoy local!
