Second Graders Take On Egg Drop Challenge
Last Tuesday May 27th, Canton Elementary’s second grade class participated in the long-awaited egg drop competition—a fun tradition that has been happening for so long, no one remembers when it actually began! The egg drop calls for second grade students to put on their thinking caps and come up with creative ways to keep an egg from breaking after being dropped off of the roof by the CASD Maintenance Staff, Steve Turner and Adam Ayers. Some of the many inventive contraptions were accompanied by grocery bag parachutes, covered in balloons or pieces of a pool noodle, and made out of Pringle’s cans, takeout containers, and boxes. Second Grade teacher Robin Palmer explained, “The students enjoy the competition of it all. They’re very competitive at this age and they like coming up with their own ideas. We watch a few videos and give some examples of what other people have done. They have so much fun just deciding on what they’re going to wrap their egg in.”
