Roosevelt Trail tops Wellsboro Little League All-Stars
The Wellsboro 9 and 10 year-old All-Stars hosted the Roosevelt Trail League All-Stars in District 15 play on Monday, June 11th. RTL got off to a quick start as Nick Vanderpool and Zander Condekis scored to give RTL a 2-0 lead.
Wellsboro responded with a big inning where they scored 4 runs of their own. Peyton McClure, Blake Levindowski, Will Kibler, and Sam Rudy scored for the Wellsboro All-Stars.
Wellsboro extended the lead in the 2nd inning as Caden Smith scored. The RTL boys stayed determined and had a huge 7-run fourth inning, giving them a 9-5 advantage. Wellsboro was only able to muster 2 runs in response. Entering the bottom of the 5th Wellsboro trailed 7-10. Rudy and Trevor Richardson cut the lead to one with runs of their own. With the tying run on third, RTL pitcher Condekis jams Wellsboro’s Levindowski and gets him to fly-out to third base. RTL added two runs and held off Wellsboro to get the 12-9 victory.
“I thought we battled – I thought it was a very well-played game,” said Wellsboro Manager Kyle Smith. “We have to regroup and put this behind us as quickly as we can.”
The Wellsboro 9-10 year old boys are back in action against RTL on Wednesday, July 13th in Lime Hill.
