Remembering the Brave

by Corrin Binford - May 27, 2014

Wellsboro honored veterans, fallen soldiers and their families with a Memorial Day parade and remembrance service at the Wellsboro Cemetery.

Hundreds of members of the community came out and showed their support for local veterans. The parade began at the green and proceeded to the cemetery. The Wellsboro High School Marching Band showed their support by performing patriotic songs in the parade and at the remembrance service. The Boy Scouts of America and the Legion baseball team also walked to show their support. The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association participated in the parade and service by living out their motto of “vets helping vets.”

Captain Frank Yungwirth spoke in honor of fallen soldiers and our nation’s history. He shared memories and talked about the importance of supporting and encouraging our veterans and their families.

We would like to thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice. In addition, we also want to remember those who are no longer with us. We would also like to thank Master Sergeant Clare R. Emery and Dawn Pletcher of “Goodies for Our Troops” for their hard work and countless hours of supporting our veterans.
