Questioning Life: Why Does My Christian Friend Bring Up Faith?

by Pastor Mike Birbeck - June 6, 2025

Have you ever wondered why your Christian friend keeps bringing up their faith? Maybe it feels like they’re pushing something personal onto you—something you didn’t ask for.

For many today, religion is a private, optional part of life—like a favorite hobby or a personal taste. They think of it like this: choosing a religion can seem like picking an ice cream flavor. You like chocolate, I like mint. No big deal, right?

But for your Christian friend, it’s not like that at all. To them, it’s more like finding the one medicine that can cure a life-threatening disease. It’s not about preference—it’s a matter of having true life and, with it, enduring joy.

If they believe Jesus is the only cure for what’s broken in the world—and in us—then sharing that isn’t pestering. It’s love.

The early Christians didn’t treat their message as a private opinion. They spoke of real events—Jesus’ death and resurrection—as history with eternal consequences. To them, giving up on the resurrection would be giving up on life itself.

So maybe your friend isn’t trying to win an argument. Maybe they’re trying to open a door.

If you’re curious, or just want to talk in a safe, respectful space – I’d love to meet you. Let’s talk. No pressure. Just people, questions, and honest conversation. Meet at Arise Cafe in Wellsboro on Tuesday, June 10th at 7am. I look forward to talking with you!
