Queen Candidates, Bailey & Berguson

Britta Berguson is the daughter of Dan and Susan Berguson. In high school, she was a member of Peer Helpers and Key Club. She served as Secretary for the National Honor Society and for the Class of 2016. Britta was a representative for her school in Flaming Foliage and Youth Leaders of Tomorrow. She was also the valedictorian for the Class of 2016. She was awarded the following scholarships: Waste Management, Booster Club, Laurel Hill, Robert Brion Family Memorial, and the SSG Ryan Scott Ostrom. Britta played volleyball, basketball, track and field, and softball during high school. This year in basketball, Britta reached her 1000 career point and was named into the Tioga County Sports Hall of Fame. She was a nominee for the NTL Female Athlete of the Year as well as being the scholar athlete from her school. She volunteers at Special Olympics, youth basketball camps, Vacation Bible School, and sports concession stands. Britta’s future plans are to attend Keuka College to obtain a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy and be a part of the Wolfpack basketball team.

Samantha Bailey is the daughter of Mr. Jeff Bailey and Ms. Margo Bailey. In high school, she was a member of band, jazz band, chorus, Women’s Ensemble, Dicken’s choir, youth group, the Long Distance Running Club, and 4-H. She also served as a Teacher’s Aid and was a member of the National Honor Society. Sammi was selected as a First Heritage Federal Credit Union 2016 Everyday Hero, BPW girl of the month for November, and Student of the Month in grades 9-11. She also received the Joseph R. Every scholarship from C&N bank. She participated in dance, cross country, and track during high school. She volunteers at Special Olympics, the Tioga County Fair, and is a pre-school teacher at her church. Sammi’s future plans are to attend Elizabethtown College to major in Occupational Therapy and minor in French.

HomePage would like to congratulate all of the Laurel Queen candidates and wish them the best in their future endeavors! Today, June 17, the Queen’s Welcome will take place at noon on the outdoor stage at the Deane Center. Tonight there will be a Queen’s Preview and Concert at 5:00PM in the same location. On Saturday, the Coronation of the 2016 Laurel Queen will take place in the Deane Center at 6:30PM.
