The Wellsboro Hornets boys and girls cross country teams hosted Northeast Bradford, Cowanesque Valley and North Penn-Mansfield for a four-team meet on Tuesday, September 1.

Northeast Bradford swept both the boys and girls team competitions.

In the girls race, Northeast Bradford defeated Wellsboro 23-32, North Penn-Mansfield 20-35 and Cowanesque Valley 23-32.

Wellsboro finished second among the remaining teams, defeating Cowanesque Valley 26-39 and North Penn-Mansfield 22-33. Cowanesque Valley also picked up a win over North Penn-Mansfield, 17-19.

Individually, Lauren Kosek captured first place with a time of 23:21. Sophie Bennet finished second in 23:48, while Leila Garverick rounded out the top three at 23:58.

In the boys race, Northeast Bradford once again went undefeated, defeating Wellsboro 15-47, North Penn-Mansfield 19-42 and Cowanesque Valley 15-50.

Wellsboro finished second overall, edging North Penn-Mansfield 28-29 and defeating Cowanesque Valley 20-37. North Penn-Mansfield earned its first win of the meet by defeating Cowanesque Valley 23-32.

Jackson Martin led the individual boys race, taking first place with a time of 18:18. James Knefley finished second at 19:43, followed by Levi Dewing in third at 20:06.

Wellsboro cross country will return to competition September 5 at the Cliff Robbins Memorial Invitational.

North Penn-Mansfield will be back in action September 8, hosting Athens and Sayre in a home tri-meet.
