North-Penn Mansfield Rallies Against Troy In 9-Run Comeback

by Wyatt Wood - May 2, 2025

On Thursday, May 1st the North-Penn Mansfield Tigers hosted the Troy Trojans on the baseball diamond.

The Trojans were the dominant force in the first couple innings, leading 9-0 by the top of the second.

But the Tigers rallied in the third, making it 9-5 with the Trojans still ahead.

In the fourth inning, the Trojans brought 3 runs in. Then North Penn-Mansfield found a rhythm as Cooper Shaw slammed another Tiger home run, bringing Alex Davis and Andy Hermansen across the plate. By the end of the inning the Tigers were inching closer, Troy still on top 12-9.

In the fifth, Troy maintained their lead as Reed Palmer’s line drive to left field scored Mason Smith – keeping the Trojans ahead going into the bottom of the inning, 13-9.

At the bottom of the fifth the Tigers’ rally showed promise as Hermenson hit out his third home run of the game, scoring 2. Shaut slammed a line drive to tie it up as Shaw and Easton Pequignot found their way home, 13 all.

Troy scored once in the top of the sixth, but North Penn-Mansfield’s defiance was too strong as they tied it up in the bottom of the inning. Then after a full hold in the top of the 7th, after a swing and a miss on strike three, the Tigers took full advantage of the dropped ball as Harer stole the game: 15-14 Tigers.
