North Penn Liberty tops Cowanesque Valley 51-41
Drake Schmouder led the North-Penn Liberty Mounties with 17 points in a 51-41 victory over the Cowanesque Valley Indians on January 11.
The Mounties fell behind 6-0 in the early moments, but quickly composed themselves and got on the board. Timely defense and inside scoring allowed North-Penn Liberty to withstand a hot shooting start by the Indians, which included 6 three-point field goals. Brandyn Choplosky’s put back at the buzzer pulled the Mounties within one point to close the half 26-25.
North-Penn Liberty took control of the game in the second half by way of their defense, limiting Cowanesque Valley to just 6 points in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the Mounties offense hit its stride behind the balanced second half scoring of Schmouder, Choplosky, and Garrett Bickhart.
The Mounties outscored the Indians 12-9 in the final frame to seal the 51-41 victory.
Drake Schmouder finished the game with 6 rebounds and 3 steals, in addition to his 17 points. Brandyn Choplosky totaled 14 points and 7 rebounds. Garrett Bickhart finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots. Tyler Boyer contributed 5 assists.
North-Penn Liberty will be back in action on Thursday January 12th, when they host Williamson.
