A new year often begins with hope and high expectations. We imagine fresh starts, answered prayers, and forward momentum. But sometimes, only weeks—or days—in, challenges hit. Plans unravel. Problems surface. And it can feel like the wind has been knocked out of us, leaving us discouraged or frustrated.

In Ephesians 6, the apostle Paul speaks directly into moments like these. He reminds us that when opposition comes, our calling isn’t to panic or give up—but to stand firm. God knows the year ahead will bring battles we didn’t plan for, so He equips us in advance with truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and His Word.

Standing firm doesn’t mean the year looks the way we hoped. It means we face what comes clothed in God’s strength. As this year unfolds, when expectations meet obstacles, remember: God has already provided the armor you need to stand firm.
