Movin’ Together: To Sleep, Or Not to Sleep
Stick to a sleep schedule for a better you!
Today’s feature focus is all about sleep and how important it is to recharging you, your muscles, your brain, and your day! Our studio guest today on Movin’ Together is Bonnie Kendrick, a registered polysomnographic technician who works at the sleep center at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. Join us, as she explains how sleep is essential to you and your children’s physical and emotional health.
“Polysomnography,” by the way, is a comprehensive recording of the bio-physiological changes that occur during sleep.
This test can be used to help diagnosis sleep disorders that do not resolve themselves by, you guessed it, getting enough sleep.
While you are watching today’s feature ask yourself these questions:
· Do you have trouble getting enough sleep?
· Have you ever wondered how well you sleep?
· Are you getting at least seven hours of undisturbed sleep each and every night?
· Do you set your ‘clock’ to go to sleep, at the same time every night, just like you would do for work the next day?
· Did you know, you can use your five senses (Taste, Smell, Hearing, Touch, and Sight) to develop a sleep schedule that will help you think better and, well, just rejuvenate you!
If you answered no to any of these questions, watch today’s feature. Bonnie’s words of wisdom make a lot of sense – if you are not too tired to listen!
For more in depth information on the importance of sleep for children and adults for healthy brain functioning, and how sleep is essential to the growth, development and maintenance of your child’s physical health, visit the link above at the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Service website.
If your sleep issues do not resolve themselves, and you need help with sleep deprivation, consider contacting a sleep center near you. The Susquehanna Health Sleep Center is conveniently located in the Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro PA and can be reached by calling (570) 723–0119.
For more in formation on how the five senses help us to sleep you can also find that information on this website.
