The Canton Warriors hosted the Montgomery Red Raiders Friday night, with Montgomery taking control early and going on to claim a dominant 48-14 victory.

The Red Raiders got on the scoreboard just a few minutes into the game. With Montgomery inside the Warrior 10-yard line, Josh Knoebel took an outside run into the end zone to put the Red Raiders ahead 6-0.

Five minutes later, Montgomery capitalized on a Canton defensive hold. Briar Persing faked a handoff to the man in motion before dropping a pass into the hands of Gage Furman for another touchdown. The successful extra point extended the Red Raiders’ lead to 13-0.

Montgomery continued to build its advantage in the second quarter. With seven-and-a-half minutes remaining before halftime, Lincoln Miller powered around the outside and found the end zone, putting the Red Raiders ahead 20-0.

Canton answered with four minutes left in the half to break the shutout. Owen Moore faked the handoff, rolled to his left and connected with Leeland Tubach in the corner of the end zone. The touchdown cut Montgomery’s lead to 20-6.

The Red Raiders responded before halftime, with Knoebel using a stiff arm to break free and score another touchdown.

Montgomery then added one more score before the buzzer, earning the Blaise Alexander Play of the Game. As the Canton offense attempted to put together a drive before halftime, Knoebel read the play, intercepted the pass and raced down the sideline for a pick-six. The touchdown sent Montgomery into the locker room with a commanding 35-6 lead.

The Red Raiders maintained control throughout the second half, adding to their advantage and ultimately securing the 48-14 victory.

Canton will look to bounce back next Friday when the Warriors return home to host the Wyalusing Rams.
