Meet Canton’s New Chief of Police
Last Friday, December 13th, Canton Borough Council President Michael Shultz swore in their new Chief of Police, John “Jack” Strozyk, after being hired by Council as full time during their regular monthly meeting on Monday, December 9th.
Speaking on his experience working in law enforcement, Chief Strozyk stated, “I graduated the municipal police Academy for Pennsylvania in 1993 and I worked for years for Towanda Burrow police and then I also worked some part-time work for Athens Township and I did full-time work for Athens Township as well and part-time work for Sayre Burrow.”
When asked why he stepped back into the field to become Canton’s Chief, he said, “I want to serve the community like I have for all the years in law-enforcement. Chief Seeley had retired and they needed somebody to take over and then I applied and I was glad to be accepted for the position, and I hope to move the department forward and serve with the same dedication that Chief Seeley served.”
“I’m going to be meeting with the Borough Council and business owners and the schools and the borough residents as well to see what needs are there, what changes or continuation of old procedures through the old administration and just move the department forward in that way.”
On behalf of the Home Page Network, we wish Chief Strozyk all the best in his line of duty.
