Mansfield Highlights: 09/11/17 – 09/15/17

It’s time once again to take a look at what happened the past week. The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.

Panthers shutout Wyalusing, 14-0
The North Penn-Mansfield Panthers shutout previously undefeated Wyalusing 14-0 on Friday, September 8.

Burleigh finished 10-of-20 for 133 yards, Hill rushed 17 times for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and Dylan Wesneski caught 3 passes for 67 yards. Linebacker Garrett David led the team with 9 tackles and 1 sack.

The Panthers are back at Island Park on Friday, September 15 against South Williamsport.

Wellsboro Tennis sweeps North Penn-Liberty
The Wellsboro Girls Tennis team remained undefeated with a 7-0 sweep of North Penn-Liberty on Monday, September 11.

With the win the Lady Hornets improve to 5-0 (3-0 NTL) while Liberty falls to 0-5 (0-3 NTL). Wellsboro hosts Towanda on Wednesday, September 13 while Liberty travels to Galeton on Friday, September 15.

North Penn-Liberty tops N Potter
The North Penn-Liberty Mounties improved to 1-1 on the year after a 3-1 win over Northern Potter on Tuesday, September 12.

Liberty scored all three goals in the first half, and jumped out to an early lead as Luke Yoder scored from a Taylor Nelson corner kick not even 5 minutes into the game. Yoder made it 2-0 with 20:22 left in the first period as Riley Walker advanced the ball up field and Yoder finished it off near the net.

Liberty’s third and final goal came with 17:06 left in the first.
