Mansfield Community Honors Dewey
This past Saturday, October 16th, citizens of the Mansfield community came together to honor one of their own: Arthur “ Gene” Dewey.
A graduate of the class of 1951, Arthur Dewey would go on to join the United States Military Academy and would later serve in the Vietnam war. Since then, Dewey has made numerous contributions to humanitarian efforts helping displaced refugees.
Mayor Kathy Barrett presented Dewey with a proclamation that October 16th, 2021 would be Arthur “Gene” Dewey Day in Mansfield. Steve McCloskey of the Historical Center, family, and friends also spoke on Dewey’s behalf during the event. Dewey went on to speak at the event about how honored he felt being celebrated, his love for the Mansfield area, and how his desire to do the right thing led to his many years of humanitarian efforts. Dewey also commented on his desire to serve his country led to his joining the U.S. Military as well.
The event was concluded with Dewey meeting Mansfield residents of all ages. Congratulations Mr. Dewey on this great honor from all of us at the home page network.
