Lady Trojans Fall to Loyalsock in District Semifinal Battle
The Troy Lady Trojans saw their postseason run challenged Wednesday night as they faced the Loyalsock Lady Lancers in the PIAA District IV Class AAA semifinals. Loyalsock controlled the game from the outset and secured a 52–30 victory to advance to the district championship.
Troy opened with early energy as Isabella Renzi found space for a mid-range jumper to get the Lady Trojans on the board. Shortly after, Raelyn Woodward knocked down a corner three to keep Troy within striking distance. Renzi later connected with Kyah Renzo at the top of the key for another basket, but Loyalsock’s pressure defense and fast-paced offense created separation. By halftime, the Lady Trojans trailed 29–12.
The Lady Lancers continued to dictate play in the third quarter, extending their lead behind strong shooting and tight defensive coverage. Despite the deficit, Troy showed resilience and continued to battle throughout the second half.
Woodward sparked a fourth-quarter push with another corner three-pointer, while Emma Mickley scored in the post off a well-timed bounce pass from Renzi. Woodward added her third three of the game – (a “hat trick” from beyond the arc) – and Kyli Oldroyd capped Troy’s scoring with a long-range shot of her own.
Ultimately, Loyalsock’s consistent offense proved too much to overcome, and the Lady Lancers moved on with the 52–30 win.
The Lady Trojans will now turn their focus to the district third-place game, where they are set to face the Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes at noon at Montoursville High School.
