Local Students Set to Represent Pennsylvania in Washington, D.C.
The Wellsboro High School Performance Band has been invited to represent Pennsylvania and the local community at the 2026 National Veterans Day Ceremony in Washington, D.C. The event will take place on November 11th as part of the America 250 Commemoration and will also recognize the 85th anniversary of World War II.
As part of the program, Wellsboro students are expected to perform at several significant national landmarks, including the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the Iwo Jima Memorial overlooking Arlington National Cemetery. The band will also take part in a mass band performance alongside other participating groups from across the country, with hundreds of students involved.
In addition to performing, the students will tour several museums and memorials as part of the official commemoration experience.
The WASD Music Boosters are raising funds to help support the trip. Donations may be sent to the Wellsboro High School Band at 225 Nichols Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901, with checks made payable to Wellsboro High School Band. Donations can also be made through Venmo at @wasdmusicboosters.
