Local Kids Learn Stop Motion
The Friends of the Mansfield Free Public Library sponsored a Stop Motion Animation class for kids age 5-14. Kim Furry instructed the class on techniques from flip books to short animated videos.
Stop motion animation is a technique used to make static objects come to life on the screen. This is created by moving the objects in small increments and photographing each movement. Beginners take 12-24 photos to make one second of video. The participants learned the concept of frame, how it turns into a cycle, then a sequence and becomes a story.
The students worked in teams of two to create a short animation for their film festival on Friday evening.
Libraries aren’t just books. Check with your local library to see what they have to offer.
