Liberty Boys Top Sullivan County in D4 Quarterfinals
The North Penn-Liberty Mounties held Sullivan County in 6 2nd half points en route to a 47-25 victory in the quarterfinal round of the PIAA District IV Class A boys basketball tournament on Tuesday, February 22.
“With only one starter with playoff experience, this is a good win to start off districts,” said head coach Brian Litzelman.
The Mounties trailed Sullivan County 11-6 after the 1st quarter but went on an 18-8 run in the 2nd to pull ahead 24-19 at the half. Liberty then held Sullivan County to three points each in the 3rd and 4th quarters while causing 14 turnovers to go on for the win.
Noah Shedden led all scorers with 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Devin Bradley had 11 points and 5 steals, Derek Litzelman finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, and Hunter Thompson scored 8 points.
Riley King led Sullivan County with 15 points.
The win improves North Penn-Liberty to 14-8. They will face Northumberland Christian this weekend in the Class A semi-finals.
