Powered by sharp shooting and relentless defense, the Troy Lady Trojans held strong on their home floor Tuesday night, fending off the Towanda Lady Black Knights for a commanding 51–34 win. Home Page Sports highlights are brought to you by Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships.
Towanda struck first in the opening quarter, as Karis Flynn found Mya Maynard in traffic for the game’s first basket. Reese Sullivan followed with a quick breakaway along the sideline to keep the pressure on early. Troy answered from beyond the arc when Giana Renzi kicked the ball out to Haidyn Watson, who buried a clean three-pointer. Despite the response, Towanda held a slim 7–5 edge at the end of the first.
The second quarter marked a turning point. Maynard showed her versatility by scoring both inside and from long range, but Troy quickly found its rhythm. Renzi drove into the lane and dished a bounce pass to Raelyn Woodward for an open look, igniting the Lady Trojans’ offense. Isabella Renzi then caught fire from three-point range, and Watson added another long ball with plenty of space. By halftime, Troy had flipped the script and built a 21–14 lead.
Towanda refused to fade quietly in the third. Kennedy Heyer knocked down a three to keep the Lady Black Knights within reach, but Troy responded with authority. Isabella Renzi dominated from the corner, stretching the lead further, and Giana Renzi capped the quarter in dramatic fashion—scooping up a loose ball and finishing a breakaway in reverse. Troy entered the final period firmly in control, up 35–21.
The Lady Trojans carried that momentum through the fourth, shutting down Towanda’s comeback hopes while continuing to add points. Strong defense and balanced scoring sealed the deal, as Troy closed out the night with a decisive 51–34 victory.
Up next, the Lady Trojans hit the road to face Athens, while the Lady Black Knights return home to host Wellsboro.
