On Friday, March 21st the Troy Lady Trojans softball team hosted the Wellsboro Lady Hornets to kick off their season.

Troy got on the scoreboard first. Bottom of the first, Kali Ayres hits a double deep left field to bring home Lauren Ridall. Next, Erin Knapp with a shallow drive centerfield brings in Ayres. To finish the first, Knapp steals home to put Troy ahead 3-0.

The Lady Trojans and Lady Hornets each score a few more runs between the first and 6th innings, until Troy broke it open at the bottom of the 6th.

Ridall at bat, drives it up the third base line to bring home Sid Bellows.

Then Ridall finds her own way home on a steal.

Next, Olivia Champlivier hits a line drivel to left field, sending Ayres back into the dugout.

A few minutes later Champlivier steals home on an error, while Amber James steals second base.

And to put the nail in the coffin. Maddy Palmer slams one out of the park to also bring home James. The Lady Trojans dominated the diamond to win, 13-2.

The Lady Trojans will be on the road against Athens today at 4:30, and Wellsboro will host Athens on Tuesday.
