Lady Hornets Sweep Athens in Three Sets
The Wellsboro Lady Hornets volleyball team hosted the Athens Lady Wildcats on Thursday, September 17, and came away with a convincing 3-0 sweep.
Wellsboro established the momentum early in the opening set, pulling ahead of Athens and maintaining its advantage to take the first set, 25-17.
The Lady Wildcats battled back in the second set, keeping things close throughout. However, the Lady Hornets held onto their lead and ultimately secured the set, 25-22, moving one set away from the sweep.
Wellsboro carried that momentum into the third set, while Athens continued to fight to keep the match alive. The Lady Hornets proved too much to handle, pulling away late to claim the third set, 25-17, and complete the three-set sweep.
The Lady Hornets will return to action on Monday, September 21, when they travel to take on the Williamsport Lady Millionaires.
