Lady Hornets fall to Royals, Logsdon & Urena Reach 500 Kills
For the first time since 2015 the Wellsboro Lady Hornets volleyball team won a district title and fought for the first round of state playoffs. On Tuesday, November 5th, the Lady Hornets hosted the Holy Redeemer Lady Royals in a historic, head-to-head match.
The first set of the night was neck and neck, with the Lady Royals narrowly holding the lead throughout. Holy Redeemer took the first set, 25-20.
The second set was even closer. Wellsboro fought tooth and nail, never more than a few points behind. But ultimately, the Lady Royals claimed the second set, 25-21.
But the Lady Hornets were hungry, rallying in the third set, taking the lead and holding their momentum to claim the third set, 25-20.
In the fourth set Wellsboro burst ahead with an early lead, fueled by their third set rally. But Holy Redeemer proved a worth adversary, as both teams battled back and forth, tying each other again and again. The Lady Royals managed to shift the momentum in their favor at the very end, narrowly taking the fourth and final set, 25-23 to win the night, 3-1.
Two of the senior members of the team, Paige Logsdon and Lexi Urena reached historic milestones on the night, each making 500 kills in their athletic careers.
This match concludes the Lady Hornets’ season.
