Kids Summer Activities Roundup 2018

With back-to-school supplies going on sale already, it may feel like summer is coming to a close – but don’t worry! There’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy! Today’s feature highlights a handful of the family-friendly activities and events you can enjoy this July and August.

If you’re looking for a day vacation loaded with thrills, you can find theme park tickets at reduced rates at the Wellsboro Parks & Recreation office.

This summer has been pretty toasty so far. Mix up your swimming routine at Family Float Sundays! Every Sunday, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm, bring your favorite flotation device down to the Packer Park Pool in Wellsboro.

From July 16-20, kids can enjoy an ancient adventure in “Babylon: Daniel’s Courage In Captivity” – a vacation Bible school at First Baptist Church of Wellsboro. More information can be found here.

Putt around on the hillside of Tyoga County Country Club with the Tyoga Youth Golf Clinic. Come and let a golf pro teach you the basics of the grip, full swing, pitching, chipping, putting and will introduce each participant to the basic rules and on-course etiquette. Clinic runs Monday evenings beginning July 17 to August 14 (5 weeks), 4:30- 6:00 pm. Clubs provided, or bring your own. FEE: $34.00. Register online at www.wellsbororecreation.org

Kids can find even more fun at Good News Day Camp at Ives Run, starting on July 23. The camp will also be held in Cowanesque, starting on August 5. To learn more, visit this website.

It doesn’t stop there! Here’s the scoop on another VBS: “Super Scoop – Discovering Our Super Big God” takes place July 22 and invites kids ages 3 through 6th grade. Hosted by Marsh Creek Fellowship Baptist Church.

Take to the sky with Mountain Modelairs Float & Fly event! Watch demonstrations of remote controlled airplanes and other fliers on July 28, August 11 & 25 at Nessmuk Lake in Wellsboro.

If you’re looking for something more active for your kids, come and enjoy Tim Dempsey’s soccer day camp from July 30 – August 2. This event is suitable for boys and girls ages 5 – 14. (9am – 11am for ages 5 – 7, 9am –Noon Ages 8 -14). Contact the Wellsboro Parks & Rec office for more details.

Don’t forget the Annual Youth Field Day at Ives Run! Children ages 8-14 can come and observe different demonstrations and all kinds of outdoor activities. It all takes place on August 16. Be sure to pre-register here!
