Ingerick Commits to Softball at Gannon

by Ed Weaver - February 1, 2016

Senior Sarah Ingerick made her commitment official to Division II Gannon University for softball on Friday, January 29.

Ingerick gave her verbal commitment on Wednesday, the same night she scored her 1,000 career point in basketball.

“It was a very special day. I called coach as soon as our Wyalusing game was over and scoring 1,000 and commiting on the same day is something that no one really does,” Ingerick said.

Ingerick chose Gannon over two other schools with her major but felt Gannon was the best fit for her and her family.

“I received a fee waiver from Gannon in the mail so I applied right away and was accepted, then when I went to visit I talked to the coach and worked out. I went for another overnight visit and that really sealed the deal.”

For head coach Greg Carr, Ingerick becomes the seventh girl to go on to play in college during his nine years as the Wellsboro skipper.

“Anytime you have one of your players go to the next level and keep doing something they love then that’s always great,” said Carr. “I’m really looking forward to her having a huge season. Now she can relax and focus on her senior year.”

Ingerick led the Lady Hornets last season in hits (29) and RBIs (17) and tied for home runs (2). Ingerick enters the 2016 softball season with 86 hits, just 14 shy of 100 for her career.

The Home Page Network would like to congratulate Sarah on her commitment to Gannon University, and would like to thank her for all her hard work and dedication during her career.
