Hornets Sting Warriors 3–2 in Thrilling Senior Night Victory
Under the bright Thursday night lights on October 9th, the Wellsboro Hornets boys’ soccer team delivered a dramatic 3–2 win over the visiting Williamson Warriors in front of a home crowd celebrating Senior Night.
The Warriors struck first just ten minutes in, when William Kies broke through Wellsboro’s defense and slipped one past the keeper for an early 1–0 lead.
But the Hornets wasted no time answering back. Eight minutes later, David Seeling launched a deep pass over midfield to Johnathan Carl, who made a slick collection and finish to tie the game at 1–1.
With twelve minutes remaining in the first half, Wellsboro took control. Gabe Cuneo found Jacoby Strang at the top of the box, who ripped a shot just under the crossbar for a stunning go-ahead goal. The Hornets led 2–1—at least for a moment.
Before halftime, Williamson’s Luca Adriance chipped a clever shot over the keeper after a setup from Kies, knotting the score 2–2 at the break.
In the second half, Strang struck again—his second goal of the night—to give Wellsboro the decisive edge. The Hornets’ defense held firm the rest of the way, securing a well-earned 3–2 victory.
Wellsboro returns to action on Friday, October 11, when they host Montoursville.
