Hornets Split Results in Tri-Meet, Kosek Claims First For Girls
On Tuesday, the Wellsboro Hornets cross country team hosted the Wyalusing Rams and Towanda Black Knights in a competitive tri-meet on their home course.
In the boys races, Wellsboro faced tough opposition, falling to Towanda, 21–36, and narrowly to Wyalusing, 26–29. On the girls’ side, the Hornets earned a hard-fought split—dropping a 22–33 decision to Towanda but edging Wyalusing by a single point, 27–28.
Individual standouts highlighted the meet with strong performances. In the girls’ race, Lauren Kosek led the field with a winning time of 21:44. Maris Cobb (22:17) finished second, followed by Mary-Kate Eberlin (23:29), Kenzie Brown (24:05), and Kaci Kosek (25:38) rounding out the top five.
The boys’ race was equally exciting as Boom Thompson claimed first with a time of 19:03. Emmett Klees (19:05) finished just behind him in second, with Max Macias (19:29), Henry Whitney (20:17), and Aidan Neiley (20:33) securing the remaining top-five spots.
Wellsboro will be back on the course this Saturday as they travel to the prestigious McQuaid Invitational.
