Hornets and Lady Tigers Claim XC Wins

On Tuesday, September 17th the Wellsboro Hornets cross country team hosted the North Penn-Mansfield Tigers and the Sullivan County Griffins.

In the boys race, Wellsboro beat North Penn-Mansfield 27-29. Wellsboro also Sullivan County, 27-29. And Sullivan County topped North Penn-Mansfield, 24-32.

In individual results, Tiger Michael Knefley took first with a time 19 flat. Followed by Hornet Max Macias at 19:36. Hornet Henry Whitney placed third at 20:15. Sullivan’s Chase Preston came in fourth at 21:04. And rounding out the top 5 was Sullivan’s Carter Blast at 21:28.

In the girls race, North Penn-Mansfield beat Wellsboro, 23-34. Sullivan also beat Wellsboro, 27-28. And North Penn-Mansfield topped Sullivan County, 27-30.

In individual results, Hornet Lauren Kosek claimed first place with a time of 21:37. Tiger Jaci Fairchild took second at 23:17. Followed by Sullivan County’s Zoey Reese in third, 25:09. Sullivan’s Paige Jordan claimed fourth at 26:16. And seconds later, teammate Adilynn Thibodeault crossed the finish line at 26:23.

Wellsboro will be running again on September 24th at Athens, while North Penn-Mansfield travels to Towanda.
