Hornet Soccer Trounces Mounties, 4-1
Yesterday, September 5th, the North Penn-Liberty Mounties hosted the Wellsboro boys soccer team. The Hornets walked away with the victory, 4-1.
Wellsboro got ahead early and then with 31 minutes left in the first half Braeden Abernathy sent a long ball right over the keeper. Next, a big corner kick from Micaiah Fitch sailed over center and David Seeling was there to clean up. The Mounties responded as Brody Grinnell fought for the ball in mid and sent a big set in the box to Adynn Wheeland – who beat the keeper and a defender. Hornets up 3-1 with 11:59 left in the half.
Then, in the second half, the last goal of the game was Jude Cuneo with an assist from Seeling. With Wellsboro up 4-1, both teams defended the rest of the game with no more goals scored.
Both teams play again tomorrow – the Wellsboro boys soccer team will be hosting Milton and North Penn-Mansfield faces the Montoursville Warriors at home.
