Home for the Holidays Event
As a chill hits the air, the warmth of the Holidays is right around the corner! To celebrate this most special time of year, we have another “Home for the Holidays” event to look forward too. This special, hometown affair pulls together the whole Mansfield community, including many of our local businesses. Chamber Rep, Dawn Hull, explained that “Home for the Holidays” is for families who come together in Mansfield, perhaps with some members now living out of town, who want to experience that nostalgic, small-town holiday that they grew up with.
With numerous activities on the docket, there will certainly be something of interest for everyone! The day will kick off with a brisk 5k. Then, everyone’s invited to breakfast with Santa at St. John’s Episcopal Church! Following breakfast, Santa will be available for photos, taken by Bruce Dart. The first 100 participants in the Santa photos will receive a free stocking from the VFW. As the day goes on, you can appreciate a festive N Main Street, with all of the businesses decorating their storefronts. Stroll through the shops and restaurants while the street is closed for the jolly occasion, and enjoy merry specials that some of the businesses will be offering. The celebration will continue in to the evening when caroling and a Christmas-tree lighting will transpire.
One new aspect is being added to the festivities. This year there will be a Pet Promenade! Dress up your furry friend in an adorable holiday costume, and join the fun! Winning pets will be given prizes that have been donated by local businesses.
Information for “Home for the Holidays” can be found on the Chamber’s Facebook page, as well as the Chamber’s website Be sure to join in the merriment on Saturday, November 25th!
In addition, this year’s Youth Leaders of Tomorrow participants have been selected, and their portraits have been posted. Students are chosen from North Penn-Liberty, North Penn-Mansfield, and New Covenant Academy. Currently, the student leaders’ pictures reside in First Heritage Bank, and they will rotate through the other local banks throughout the winter season. These young leaders are great influences and examples within their schools and communities. Each student is in the process of submitting bio-sheets and meeting for interviews that will work toward the selection of the student who will receive a college scholarship. This wonderful program will culminate in February at the Youth Leaders of Tomorrow banquet, held at New Covenant Academy.
