Heritage Garden Club Awarded Governor’s Trophy, Outstanding Club of the Year
The Heritage Garden Club of Troy was recently awarded the Governor’s Trophy and recognized as the Outstanding Club of the Year. In order to qualify for this “once in a lifetime” award, garden club members kept a thorough record of their events and achievements over the course of the previous year, including collecting 1,000 pounds of plastic with the NexTrex program for a conservation activity. This achievement awarded the club with a bench that will be placed at the Troy Hospital Community Garden. Heritage Garden Club Vice President Barbara Andrus organized the required information and submitted it to be considered for the award.
Describing the feeling of winning these well-deserving awards, Andrus said, “It’s a wow! Wow! We’re very excited. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime.”
At the conference at the beginning of April, the Heritage Garden Club of Troy received the Governor’s Trophy for medium-sized garden clubs (clubs that have attained 20-25 members). They received the engraved silver plate and bowl that the club will be able to display for the next year and a beautiful glass vase that they get to display for years to come.
