Help Keep Our Communities Clean!

by Sara Vogt - October 15, 2021

This year’s fall clean-up day is happening the week of October 18th on your typical garage pickup day. Home Page Vice-President Sara Vogt spoke with Leigh Twoey of NTSWA to find out the details for this year.

Many of us choose to put our items out earlier than our regular garbage day, and Leigh says that gives those looking for things to repair or scrap for other uses the opportunity to collect them. When those items are repurposed, it keeps them out of our landfills. It becomes a community event to help keep our area clean and beautiful.

Most of the items put out on this special clean-up day are too bulky for our regular trash day, like; couches, chairs, bed frames, mattresses (wrapped for sanitary reasons), two tires per household, large boxes, brush and tree limbs (bundled and cut not to exceed 3 feet in length).

Some of the items NOT to place on the curb are; household hazardous waste, liquids, construction or demolition waste.

To recycle electronics, you must pre-register your items and bring them to the Blossburg facility. For more information, visit their website at https://www.ntswa.org/electronics.
