Hamblin Signs With Bloomsburg

by Ed Weaver - May 19, 2021

Wellsboro senior Brock Hamblin signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his golf career at Bloomsburg University at Tuesday, May 18.

Hamblin, a 4-year starter for the Hornets, was named the Northern Tier League’s top golfer in the fall and helped the Hornets to a 2nd place league finish as a team and a 4th place overall individual finish at this year’s District IV championships. The two-time NTL all-star was also instrumental in the Hornets’ District IV championship run during his sophomore year.

Hamblin was considering both Bloomsburg and Millersville, where former teammates Ben Barnett and Ty Morral attend, but ultimately chose Bloom.

“Bloomsburg was quite cheaper,” Hamblin said. “It’s also a new team so I’m hopeful to start and get a lot of reps in.”

For head coach Steve Macensky Hamblin is his third pupil to take his game to the collegiate level, something he is very proud of.

“Brock’s a good kid and he’s worked very hard over the last four years. He came in as one of the smallest kids as a freshman, I didn’t really know what to expect from him but it didn’t take more than two or three matches his freshman year and he was in the Varsity lineup and stayed their ever since. He’s had a great high school career and I’m happy to see him going on. He’s going to my alma mater and that’s great to see.”

The Home Page Network would like to congratulate Brock on continuing his athletic and academic careers.
