Guest Meets Love of Her Life Playing “UNO” Card Game

by Sara Vogt - January 28, 2022

How did you meet the love of your life?

A group of Anja Stam’s college friends would gather together to play board games during college. One day Julian Stam was invited to join the group, and their friendship began. They played the game Uno on that first meeting, and Anja and Julian have now been married thirty-five years. And they still play Uno!

Anja and Julian opened Pop’s Culture Shoppe at 25 Main Street in Wellsboro over ten years ago to encourage others to join in on the fun and enjoyment of playing board games.

When shopping at Pop’s, the family has many choices to explore. Anja encourages us to shop for games and toys that the children prefer. If a child likes dinosaurs, there are many games and puzzles to choose from at the store. There are also games for the entire family to play, such as Monopoly, Chinese Checkers, Connect 4, Dominoes, Family Vacation, Fish Club, Games of the States, Checkers, Scrabble, and Mind Block.

When Sara Vogt was playing games with her grandchildren recently, her adult children told her that they did not remember playing games with her when they were growing up. Sara said to them that they were right, but now Anja and Juliana at Pop’s have helped her to begin the process of playing games with everyone in the family. It is never too late to start a new tradition. Family Game Night allows the family to have fun and make memories that last a lifetime.
