Goodies on the Go!
Goodies for our Troops will be holding their “Flag Day/ Summer Care Packaging event this weekend – Friday, April 10th through Sunday the 12th, from 1pm-5pm at 87 Main and Crafton Street, Wellsboro. Whether you have 5 minutes or an hour, they would love for you to come by and help with the packages. If you are unable to help by giving a little of your time, but would still like to help in another way, they always accept donations. No donation is too small! From a batch of homemade cookies to a pack of M & M’s, a magazine or toothpaste, a cent or more for postage – it all adds up and they are so grateful to all who donate. Our heroes appreciate it as well!
Some items needed for this month particularly, include: Eye drops, sunscreen (lotion only please), Non-aresol bug repellent, foot and body powder, and freezer pops. Please come out and show your love and support for our military men and women, and to the volunteers at Goodies for our Troops.
On May 30th, Goodies for our Troops is having a fundraiser with the help of Benedict’s Bus Service. For $75 per person, you can enjoy a guided tour and tasting at Yuengling Brewery, free time at Cabela’s and wine tasting at Shade Mountain Winery (motor coach transportation, hostess service also included). You don’t have to drink beer or wine to enjoy this bus trip. Many people go just to experience and learn about America’s Oldest Brewery, which was founded in 1829 by David G. Yuengling and is a family-owned company that spans 180 years. Cabela’s Hamburg location is 250,000 square feet with a creek that runs through the center of the store with gigantic trout and other live fish. This in itself would be worth the bus trip! Shade Mountain Winery is tucked away in the fertile Susquehanna Valley, and here you will learn how the grapes are grown become delicious wines. The bus ride will include games, fun & laughter! While you are enjoying your trip, you will also be helping Goodies for our Troops. Because for every seat filled, Benedict’s will donate a percentage to Goodies to help them raise money to keep on supporting our troops and sending them goodies around the world.
The deadline for registration for this trip is APRIL 23rd. You must register with Dawn Pletcher at Goodies for our Troops. You can reach her at 570-662-5601 or email: Goodies@ptd.net or just stop by 87 main at Crafton St. just under Stained Glass Reflections and Dr. Scott Lee.
