Get Your Girl Scout Cookies!

by Stacey Dondey - March 22, 2018

Have you gotten your Girl Scout Cookies yet? These cookies have become a delicious American treasure that many of us look forward to each year. This Sunday, March 25th is the final day to purchase yours and the Scouts are eagerly selling to reach their goals. Think you’ve missed out on these delightful desserts? Read on for your chance to snag a pre-ordered box after the deadline.

Westfield, PA has a brand new Girl Scout Troop #60213 as of November thanks to Troop Leader, Linda Jeffrey, a 12 year Girl Scout herself. The Girl Scouts “give the girls lots of opportunities to be active in the community and to grow as a person,” says Linda.

This Daisy Troop for kindergartners and first graders are active in the community collecting food for food banks, volunteering at the Animal Care Sanctuary as “Kitty Cuddlers,” participating in parades and planting flowers in the Spring. “I love being a Daisy because we do lots of arts and crafts,” says Joshlynn Cardner.

We visited with the Scouts at their troop meeting where they were having a “pet parade” which exhibited an assortment of creatures made from recycled items. The Scouts were required to feed, water and care for their pets to earn one of their journey patches. Each girl delighted in their accomplishment while also learning the responsibility of caring for a pet, not dissimilar to the importance of caring for themselves.

The troop also began discovering early entrepreneurial skills selling Girl Scout cookies. The profits from this sale will be used to visit the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, NY. Each level of sales earnes them more fun experiences. Scouts Ella Read, Madilynn Jeffrey and Joshlynn Cardner excitedly explained how they have not only earned a trip to the zoo but also hope to visit the water park.

If you would like to support this hard working Girl Scout Troop, please visit their table outside the Mansfield Walmart this Friday, March 23rd, 6-8pm.

For your chance to purchase preordered cookies after the deadline you can contact the Westfield Daisies Troop Leader at: LJeffery119@aol.com
