For local students looking for something to do after the school day ends, Three Springs Ministries in Morris is expanding its Breakaway after-school program.

The program, which previously focused primarily on horsemanship, is now expanding to offer students a wider variety of activities — including horseback riding, rock climbing, games, arts and crafts, snow tubing and more.

Breakaway is open to students in grades second through 12th and takes place every Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Rush Recreation Center at Three Springs Ministries. Drop-off begins at 3 p.m., and transportation from Liberty Schools may also be available.

Organizers say the program is built around three goals: being safe, free and fun. Staff members and volunteers with the appropriate Pennsylvania clearances oversee the activities.

And there is no cost for students to participate. Families simply need to register.

Three Springs Ministries says the goal is to give young people a chance to step away from the pressures of the school day, spend time in a safe and caring environment, and build relationships while trying new activities.

Breakaway is held at Three Springs Ministries, located at 874 Linck Hill Road in Morris.
