Fire, Snow, Hornets & Hope!
The Wellsboro Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Middlebury Township late last night and quickly took control of the situation. A fire department spokesman said that it was a chimney fire and thankfully no one was hurt.
That winter storm we’ve been telling you about is here! This winter storm warning remains in effect until about 7:00 this evening. Snow accumulations for Tioga County are predicted by some weather services to hit between 10 – 14 inches, while others measure less – around 8 to 12 inches. All school systems in the region are closed today because of those hazardous conditions.
The Wellsboro Hornets defeated the Wyalusing Rams last night in the Hornets’ final home game of the season. Coach Todd Outman was especially happy for the Wellsboro seniors who played in last night’s game, but says that the Hornets have a lot of work to do.
And our community came together last night in support of Ashley Johns. Wellsboro High School students and fans wore lots of blue – Ashley’s favorite color – and were able to raise over $800.00 to help with her recovery. Ashley was recently injured in a traumatic car accident on Saturday, February 1st. Please continue to remember Ashley and her family in your prayers. You can also support Ashley and her family financially by donating to her recovery fund – click here to learn more.
And finally, thank you – our Wellsboro Home Page viewers – for making us your home page and supporting our family of advertisers. You are much appreciated. Stay warm, have fun and don’t overdo it today in this Tioga County winter wonderland.
