Family Day at the Tioga County Fair!
It’s fair time! Today is family fun day at the Tioga County Fair. The fair features many activities for the whole family to enjoy. There are carnival rides, livestock shows, a demolition derby, a tractor pull, and other track events. There is also a cooking, gardening, photography and art contest on display.
In today’s feature story, Wellsboro Home Page had the opportunity to talk with Jennie York – secretary of the Tioga County Fair. First, Jennie shared with us that the fair would not be possible with out the help of volunteers. Jennie, like many other people that work for the fair, have grown up coming to the fair and enjoying all of the festivities. Together, the team plans and organizes all of the different shows and events that are put on at the fair.
The Tioga County Fair is an agricultural fair with over a dozen different kinds of livestock, ranging from rabbits to oxen and more! There is even a pig racing show that will be held this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Home Page also spoke with many of the exhibitors, including Ralph Hartzell, who owns oxen, Matt Sampson, a local dairy farmer, and 9-year-old Janna Quick who is showcasing her sheep. There are so many wonderful events going on at the Tioga County Fair! Be sure to check it out and bring the whole family, because there is something for everyone to enjoy!
