Today is election day. Polls are open between 7 AM and 8 PM. On today’s broadcast we encourage each of you to get out and VOTE today. You will make a difference. Your vote counts. The hotly contested local battle that we have been following here at Home Page is for Matt Baker’s seat here in the 68th district. With County Commissioner Mark Hamilton dropping out of the race, it has come down to four quality candidates. Carrie Heath is running as a Progressive Democrat, with the Republican party splitting their votes between Melissa Bravo as a write-in Republican, Dennis Weaver, and Clint Owlett. All four candidates have run a strong race, engaging with thousands of people in our region.

As a public service The Home Page Network is broadcasting short closing statements and appeals today from all four candidates to help you make your final decision. Please take a few moments to watch and listen to each candidate in their own words.

There are two elections taking place today – the special election and the primary election.

The “special” election is to fill out the remainder of Matt Bakers term. Any registered voter can vote in the special election. You will see Carrie Heath, the Democrat-endorsed candidate, and Clint Owlett, the Republican-endorsed candidate, on the ballot. You will also have the opportunity to write-in Melissa Bravo or the candidate of your choice.

For the “Primary” election – registered Republicans and Democrats will be able to choose between Dennis Weaver and Clint Owlett on the Republican ticket, Carrie Heath on the Democrat ticket, or write in the candidate of your choice.

Remember, Mark Hamilton’s name will appear on the ballot. However, Mark Hamilton has dropped out of the race. There are many other races in play throughout the State that you should be mindful of as you cast your votes today so please do your homework.
