Eatery Spotlight: Johnny’z Hot Rod Cafe

by Home Page Staff - March 22, 2018

Johnny’z Hot Rod Cafe is a local cafe with an American-Mexican influenced menu and racing themes. Founded by owner John Zavett, the restaurant first opened in November of 2016 on Main Street in Wellsboro. However, in December of 2017, Johnny’z closed its Main Street location and moved to 17 1/2 Crafton Street in Wellsboro and reopened on February 28 of this year.

“It took a lot longer than I expected, to get everything together,” says owner, John Zavett. “I’m happy to be open again. I love [the new location]. I feel like this is home. This is where I was supposed to be.”

Along with the fresh new digs, Johnny’z Hot Rod Cafe has also made a few additions to their menu, including freshly baked personal pizzas.

“With the new renovations we decided we were going to install the pizza over we already had over at the other location, but we never used,” says Zavett. “We decided to put it together and use it.”

The pizzas are the highlighted item every Thursday in the restaurant.

Johnny’z Hot Rod Cafe invites our surrounding communities to come in and enjoy a burrito on April 5th, 2018 in honor of National Burrito Day. They’ll be serving up their much beloved menu items, along with a few specialty surprises.
