Donate Blood For A Chance To Win A Kayak Package

by Community Blood Bank - April 30, 2018

WELSBORO, PA — Donate blood on Monday, May 7 from noon-5 p.m. in the board room at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. All signed in donors will receive a chance to win a kayak package—consisting of two kayaks, 2 paddles and a $100 gift card.

“This is an exciting promotion,” says Lora Cope, Community Blood Bank (CBB) mobile drive coordinator. “The winner can explore our area’s waters in new kayaks.”

Even more importantly, donors will save lives. Donations made to the Community Blood Bank impact the blood supply at local hospitals.

“This is a chance to help our neighbors, friends and family,” says Stephanie Phillips-Taggart, community relations coordinator. “Make an impact on area patients by donating blood.”

According to America’s Blood Center, nationally more than 40,000 pints of blood are needed daily. One donation roughly equates to one pint.

Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu Donors must have a valid photo ID in order to register. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good solid meal and drink at least 18 oz. of water. Appointments are not necessary, but can be made if preferred.

Donors who attend Community Blood Bank drives from May 1-26 will automatically be entered in the kayak drawing. The winner will be announced during the last week of May.

For more information, to schedule an appointment or to learn more about hosting a drive, call (570) 789-4026 or visit FourHearts.org.
