On today’s broadcast, we recap the 34th annual Dickens of a Christmas. This year’s event turned out to be one of the best with thousands of people coming to Wellsboro to celebrate Christmas in a Victorian Time Period setting. As you watch today’s feature, you will see a just a small sample of the fun and good times that took place at this year’s Dickens of a Christmas. It should give you a good idea of what it was like to be in one of the best small town settings in America to experience such an event.

This year’s celebration also included the second annual Dickens of a Christmas Best Dressed Contest. We cover those highlights in today’s feature as well. From the feedback that we have received so far the people who attended and participated has a great time. Check out some incredible Victorian outfits and find out who won by watching today’s broadcast.

Numbers of contestants entered this year’s fun and friendly competition for the Dickens of a Christmas Best dressed. Our judges this year were Teresa Banik Capuzzo, Editor, and publisher of the award-winning Mountain Home Magazine. Larry Biddison, Mansfield University English professor Emeritus, Cynthia Compton, a social worker at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro and a fashion designer, and Sara Vogt, The Home Page Network’s Vice President and contest organizer.

John Vogt was our master of ceremonies, and Christine Moore of Christine A. Moore Millinery in New York City provided color and commentary for the event.

Taking 5th place this year was Emma Backhus of Wellsboro, PA.

4th place went to Mille and Rick Ryczak Dalton, PA

3rd place honors went to Stephen and Allison Schmidt of Attica, New York

Our 2nd place winner this year was Jan Stiner of Wellsboro, PA

And this year’s Dickens of a Christmas Best Dressed winner was Sara Pease of Crab Orchard, WV. Sara won over 1,000 in cash and prizes from area merchants which in included a hat designed by Christine A. Millinery in New York City.

Thanks to all who participated this year for inspiring us to come to Dickens of a Christmas decked out in Victorian period attire and making this event so much fun.
