CV tops North Penn-Mansfield Panthers, 23-15
On Saturday, October 19th the North Penn-Mansfield Panthers hosted the Cowanesque Valley Indians.
Halfway through the first quarter the CV Indians started the scoring for the night with a field goal from the 10. Then in the second quarter, after smashing their way up the field, the Indians first and goal rumbled over the line: 10-0, Indians.
Just before halftime CV took to the skies as the buzzer went off – Graham Hess sent the ball to the air to Jeavon Eick, ending the half 17-0.
Third quarter, the Panthers advanced their way down the field. Then, on the goal line Cooper Shaw called his own number and slammed through the line, getting North Penn-Mansfield on the board, 17-7.
North Penn-Mansfield would score once more on the night with a rocket from Shaw to Luke Kreger. The panthers went for two – Shaw read the defense and raced to the pylon. The Panthers were still trailing, 23-15.
Both teams held strong in the fourth quarter, not allowing anything through, ending the game in the Indians favor: 23-15.
The Panthers are back on the field headed to Wellsboro on Friday to compete for the Morton F Jones memorial trophy and to finish the regular season.
