The 2016 cross country season is just a couple of days away, and the Wellsboro Hornets are ready to lace up their running shoes.

The Hornets are young once again this year with only 2 seniors (Callahan and Weiner) and 5 juniors between both rosters, but return top runners Perry and Bleggi. Perry, now a sophomore, and Bleggi, a junior, led both squads last season. Both runners ran their best races last season on Canton’s course, and had good performances in the District championship meet. Look for both Perry and Bleggi to be among the top runners in every race this year.

“This is a year of transition for both the girls and boys,” said Coach Brought. “The girls are young this season with six freshman, four sophomores, one junior and no seniors. The boys are transitioning into that sweet spot as a team. The team is comprised of several strong runners in every class from seniors down to freshman.”

The Hornets begin their season on Thursday, September 8 at the Lasagna Invite in Wyalusing.
