Congressman Keller & Rep. Owlett Tour Truck-Lite To Discuss Job Growth
PA State Representative Clint Owlett and Congressman Fred Keller toured Truck-lite in Wellsboro this past Friday to discuss small business support and job-growth issues in the region. Truck-Lite is currently growing and hiring. There are several openings for positions throughout the operation. Some of those positions include long-term career opportunities for quality employees with an expanding and growing company.
“First, I think it’s great that they’re making the investment here, as they’ve mentioned, bringing jobs to Pennsylvania,” said Congressman Keller. “An outstanding company. And they even talked about how they’ve developed their workforce. I think it’s great for Wellsboro…we want to do everything we can to be supportive and helpful so they can do what they do very well.”
Truck-Lite’s registered apprenticeship programs were also discussed.
“I want to be able to take these ideas to make sure that we can build upon these apprenticeship programs,” Keller continued. “To make sure our students and individuals entering the workforce have the opportunity to learn the necessary skills.”
PA State Representative for the 68th District, Clint Owlett, was also supportive of their employment opportunities.
“They’re ready. They’re looking for folks today,” said Owlett. “They have a great opportunity, sign-on bonuses, great work environments, technology and growth opportunities within this business and this company. It was really encouraging to see and hear all about the good work that they’ve done for decades and what they’re looking to do in the future.”
Representative Owlett is looking to present legislative ideas to help the employment process.
“We’re going to be introducing a Career & Technical Education Bill.” said Owlett. “It’s a tax credit bill. A company like Truck-Lite would be able to keep and invest locally some of their tax dollars, instead of sending it all to Harrisburg and then us distributing it throughout the commonwealth. It’s specific to career and technical education within the community. So if they wanted to invest some money into opportunities to help train students for the job opportunities right here in their plant, they could do that.”
In recent years Truck-Lite has introduced the world’s first custom-designed LED headlight for Class 8 trucks, the ROADMAX™ custom LED headlight system for the medium-duty market, and Road Ready® – the industry’s first true “smart” trailer monitoring system.
Truck-Lite is committed to exceeding its customers’ expectations through highly innovative product design, superior quality manufacturing, outstanding, friendly service, and the absolute best value.
