Community Gathers for Trivia Night

by Amiee Jones - January 31, 2017

What do whiteboards, creative cuisine, artisan ales, brain-teasing questions, and a fun, relaxing atmosphere have in common? Yorkholo “Trivia Night”!

Every Tuesday night at 6:30, patrons pour through the doors of Yorkholo Brewing Company to enjoy this lighthearted, unique experience.

Since owners Ashley Walsh and Jarrod York opened their doors in February of 2011, the eatery has continued to grow in popularity within the Mansfield area and beyond. Thanks to the welcoming, lively atmosphere, Trivia Night has become synonymous with Yorkholo.

Mike Detweiler, the man behind the questions, admits that he only took the gig because he was asked to. But, we’re thankful he did, because the role fits him like a glove. During Trivia Night, he’ll be found in his element, perched on a dividing wall overlooking the crowd, and shouting out obscure, challenging questions. The attending teams then write their answers on a white board and hold them up to see who scored in that round. Mike does a great job at including people, making each team feel wanted and at ease. This truly is a fun, carefree way to spend an evening.

Trivia night has become such an infatuation to the community, that there is now an annual Trivia Tournament each summer. The winning team of the tournament walks away with a trophy, personally (and humorously) designed by Mike himself. The stakes are high.

Trivia Night reaches across different demographics to actively bring the community together. This activity is creative and offbeat, and Yorkholo executes it beautifully. If you are looking for a fresh, fun pastime, check out Trivia Night this Tuesday. You won’t be sorry you did!
