Claire Lynch Band Holiday Concert!
The Wellsboro Community Concert Association presents The Claire Lynch Band on Wednesday, December 3, at 7:30, performing both their bluegrass and special holiday songs.
Claire has won numerous awards in her career, such as being named the best female vocalist in 1997, 2010, and 2013 by the International Bluegrass Music Association. This year they awarded her song “Dear Sister” the title of ‘Song of the Year.’
We interviewed Claire via FaceTime from her home in Nashville, Tennessee. Wellsboro will be her first venue of the seven Holiday Concerts that she will be performing this year. To include audience participation, the band has prepared an advent tree with 10 doors – representing the ten songs on Claire’s new holiday album. Before each song is played a ticket will be drawn for someone in the audience to win a prize from the corresponding advent door. You can expect to enjoy many of your favorite holiday songs, as well as an original, co-written by Claire herself. This original song, Heaven’s Light, is a wonderful story-telling of the birth of Christ. Some of the other titles include Jingle Bells, White Christmas, We Three Kings and Home for the Holidays – to mention a few. Producing a holiday album has been a dream of Claire’s for years and she is happy to see this dream become a reality!
The second set of the night will consist of traditional bluegrass songs for which she is well known. The band she usually travels with includes Mark Schatz, Jarrod Walker and Bryan McDowell – their musical bios (along with Claires) can be found on clairelynch.com.
It was a joy to interview Claire – with her quick wit and attention to detail! We look forward to her concert!
Tickets can be bought online by going to the WCCA website or by paying $20.00 at the door. Children accompanying an adult are free.
